Saturday Night Banquet
Spend Saturday evening at the Harney County Fairgrounds Memorial Building with fellow birders, a catered meal, no-host beer and wine. Jen Hajj, Education Director for HawkWatch International will speak about the role of birds in today’s conservation ethic. Jen Hajj joined HawkWatch International in the summer of 2005, coming from the Zoo Education field. Through her work at HWI, she performs between 200 and 400 live bird programs per year, mostly for school children. Her most recent work has been with High School students, teaching the concepts of statistics using data sets from migration monitoring projects. Jen's interest in participatory science education in the world community has taken her to faraway places, and she has worked with scientists, students and teachers in Trinidad, Costa Rica, Belize and Argentina, as an instructor for Miami University's Project Dragonfly. Jen is also an award winning singer/songwriter. Her presentation will be accompanied by selections from her two CDs. You don’t want to miss this insightful and entertaining presentation.
Saturday - 5:30 p.m. social hour; 6:00 to 7:00 dinner and raffle; 7:00 presentation. The dinner will be BBQ Chicken, Pasta Salad, Baked Beans, Roll & Dessert with the vegetarian option being stir fry veggies with pasta. It will be served buffet style and the tickets for the meal and presentation are $25 each. Pre-purchase is strongly encouraged. Tickets to attend the banquet without dinner are $15.00.
