One of our most popular tours! Join Oxford-trained ornithologist Duncan Evered for an insightful 8-hour field trip where we celebrate birds as our subject– their behaviour, ecology, migrations, digestion and, of course, their beautiful plumage.  Having lived and worked at the Malheur Field Station for over 20 years, this Brit offers a completely different perspective on Harney County’s birds.  With a pythonesque twist on The Meaning of Birding , with a bit of luck, you’ll learn that identifying birds need not be the end of the pursuit, but rather the beginning of a wonderfully fulfilling life experience.  Participants must at least pretend to like Elgar’s music and will get to sample Marmite done right -with some strong black tea during recovery.  Come hone your observation skills and also have a jolly good time!

BIRDING BRITISH STYLE | Saturday | 8 AM - 4 PM

$95.00Price
  • Full refunds before March 23. No refunds on or after March 23.

  • All tours depart from Burns High School. TRANSPORTATION IS PROVIDED – no caravanning or driving your own vehicles except for the llama tours and the overnight Sage-Grouse excursion that begins in Frenchglen. Please arrive early, check in at Bird Central (located in the gymnasium at Burns High School), and be prepared with your own amenities. Most tours travel to remote areas. Bring snacks, lunch and water, and dress for changing weather conditions - “fowl” weather gear and sturdy shoes or boots are advised. There may be long stretches between restroom stops and the birds will only be as visible as they choose! Tours depart at the scheduled time.
